Carra hails Liverpool depth

Kenny Dalglish has spent over £100million at Liverpool since assuming control of the team in a bid to reinvigorate it, and has added much-needed depth and quality.

Against Arsenal on Saturday in Liverpool's 2-0 win at the Emirates - their first away against the Gunners in 11 years - it was clearly demonstrated.

With 20 minutes left of the game, and with the home side reduced to 10 men after the dismissal of youngster Emmanuel Frimpong for two yellow cards, Dalglish made two crucial changes.

Summoned

Raul Meireles and Luis Suarez where both summoned from the bench to replace Andy Carroll and Dirk Kuyt, with the latter scoring the second, while the former was instrumental in both goals.

"That's always been a complaint from supporters or people in the media about the bench at Liverpool,'' Carragher told the club's official website.

"But to have that quality to come on, they were instrumental in killing the game off for us."

Sunderland

Jordan Henderson was brought in from Sunderland in an eye catching £20million deal at the start of the summer.

His indifferent displays for England at the European Under 21 Championship caused many to question if such a fee was justified for Henderson.

Along with Charlie Adam and Stewart Downing, he is forming a new-look Liverpool midfield, and Carragher feels it is still a little too early to judge the new players and praised the contribution of the midfield tyro in the win over Arsenal.

He added: "The time to judge the new signings is at the end of the season but I thought they played a massive part in the win. Jordan Henderson was outstanding in a midfield role."
