Larsson eyes Reds scalp

The Black Cats travel to Anfield to face a new-look Reds, a club that the Sweden international has been a fan off since childhood.

However, the former Arsenal and Birmingham player told skysports.com that he will be hoping to dampen Liverpool's pre-season optimism on his Sunderland debut.

He said: "It is true that I have supported Liverpool since as long as I can remember, but that won't matter when I cross the white line tomorrow.

"People back home (in Sweden) always follow English football on TV and my dad supported Liverpool so naturally I followed suit and supported them myself as well.

"I grew up admiring the likes of Michael Owen, Robbie Fowler and Steven Gerrard, so to play against some of them during my career has been great.

"Anfield is always a great place to play football and I remember the first time I played there, for Arsenal, and it was amazing to just soak up the atmosphere whilst sat on the bench.

"It's always nice to go there and it will be no different tomorrow, so hopefully we can play well and cause them a few problems."
